About

2020 marked my first year back in Canberra after four years in the tropics – volunteering in Bali and then time in Darwin working in Aboriginal community development.  I loved the green lush tropics – but found the heat stultifying. Working in a large Aboriginal organisation was both interesting, rewarding and intensely frustrating. For various reasons my job was no longer bringing me joy and with family beckoning and the heat knocking me for six, I returned ‘home” – with some misgivings. After all, I’d left Canberra for adventures – what could it offer me that I hadn’t already experienced?  Experiences of a very different kind, with the entry of COVID.

This blog serves my own need to muse about my travelling adventures. It’s not for self-promotion – although I suppose if that were strictly true I’d be committing these words to my journal. But if you enjoy this too, then the joy is shared!
